Our Hours:

Unabridged Bookstore book shelves We are open Monday through Friday from 10 am to 9 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 7 pm. We close only on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day.

Our Stock:

We specialize in gay and lesbian books. Stand-out sections include gay fiction, gay parenting, gay humor, coming out titles, transgender studies, bisexuality, gay photography, gay erotica, queer spirituality, lesbian fiction and non-fiction, and gay travel books.

Our children’s section contains books for infants and toddlers as well as titles for older children, everything from classics like Dr. Seuss and Beverly Cleary to a carefully selected range of new picture book and young adult titles.

Other specialty sections include the best of new releases in fiction and nonfiction, a well-organized and comprehensive general travel section, and well-stocked fiction, mystery, poetry, history, current events, home design, exercise, cooking, and religion sections.

We stock hundreds of calendars, from page-a-day to desk and wall calendars, with a wide variety of styles and themes.

Our sale book section contains hundreds of new, handpicked publisher remainders, sold for 70% or more off the marked price.

In our "Classics Corner" we stock the titles from Penguin Classics, The Library of America, The Modern Library, Everyman’s Library, and the awesome New York Review of Books series, offering you one place in the store to find classic books, all of them at least 10% off the cover price.

Our Staff:

There are six of us, all full-time booksellers, and all of us active and avid readers, with a wide range of interests. All of us have worked at other bookstores before coming to Unabridged, and we put this experience to use with knowledgeable, personable, and friendly service. You’ll find our hand-written book recommendations in every section of the store, and we are happy to discuss your options for the next book to read or give as a gift.

Our Services:

Gift-wrapping is always free, and we have an assortment of papers to choose from.

If we are out of a title or don’t carry it, we are happy to special order it at no extra charge. Most special orders arrive in a week or less.

We can ship books anywhere in the US via U.P.S.

We sponsor a free public storyhour for kids ages 3-6 every Tuesday morning at 9:00 am throughout the school year at Nettelhorst Elementary School, just across the street from the bookstore at 3252 N. Broadway.
