Poetry Night at Unabridged Bookstore

We'll have books, wine, and snacks for all, as we'll also be celebrating the release of Lauren Hilger's debut book of poetry, Lady Be Good. Mark your calenders, friends. Bios are below!

Lauren Hilger is the author of Lady Be Good (CCM, 2016). Awarded the Nadya Aisenberg Fellowship from the MacDowell Colony, where she was a fellow in 2012 and 2014, her work has appeared in Gulf Coast, Harvard Review, Kenyon Review, Massachusetts Review, Prelude, and elsewhere. Ruben Quesada is a Blogger for Ploughsares (US), Essays Editor of The Rumpus (US) and Senior Editor of Queen Mob's Tea House (UK). He received an MFA in Creative Writing & Writing for the Performing Arts at the University of California, Riverside, and a PhD in English at Texas Tech University. His writing and media have been featured at The Art Institute of Chicago, The Poetry Foundation, The American Poetry Review, Southern Humanities Review, The California Journal of Poetics, Guernica, Cimarron Review, and elsewhere. Abigail Zimmer is the author of "girls their tongues" (forthcoming in 2017 from Orange Monkey Publishing) and the chapbooks "fearless as I seam" and "child in a winter house brightening", which received the Chicago Review of Books’ 2016 Poetry Award. She lives in Chicago where she is the poetry editor for The Lettered Streets Press. Her work has appeared in NightBlock, Jellyfish, The New Megaphone, and alice blue review, among others.

Helene Achanzar has earned awards from the Iowa Writers' Workshop and Philippine American Writers and Artists, Inc. She has written for Steppenwolf Theater Company, Hearst Newspapers, Vice Media, and more.
