Book Launch: Revelations

We are thrilled to welcome poet Ruben Quesada to the shop to celebrate the release of his new book, Revelations, due from Sibling Rivaly Press on November 15th. Ruben will be joined by poets Tara Betts, T. Clutch Fleishman, and Kenyatta Rogers. A signing will follow the reading.

About Ruben Quesada:

Ruben Quesada is the author of Next Extinct Mammal and Exiled from the Throne of Night: Selected Translations of Luis Cernuda. He is currently editing of a volume of essays by contemporary Latinx poets on poetry, Latino Poetics (University of New Mexico Press).

A gifted writer, editor, and translator with over a decade of practical experience and training, Quesada serves as faculty at Northwestern University, The School of the Art Institute, Vermont College of Fine Arts, Columbia College Chicago, and UCLA, where he teaches Latinx literatures, literary translation, editing, and poetry writing.

Quesada is the founder of the Latinx Writers Caucus, which meets annually at the Association of Writers & Writing Programs (AWP) Conference and serves to connect and advocate Latinx and Latin American poets and writers from around the world.

Revelations, a chapbook of poetry and translations, is forthcoming in November from Sibling Rivalry Press.

About Tara Betts:

Tara Betts is the author of Break the Habit and Arc & Hue. She's a co-editor of The Beiging of America: Personal Narratives about Being Mixed Race in the 21st Century and editor of the critical edition of Philippa Duke Schuyler's memoir Adventures in Black and White. Her work has appeared in Poetry magazine, Essence, Nylon, LitHub, and numerous anthologies. Currently, she teaches MFA students at Chicago State University, young poets at ChiArts High School for Performing Arts, and participants in the Prison + Neighborhood Arts Program at Stateville Prison.

About T. Clutch Fleischmann:

T. Clutch Fleischmann is the author of Syzygy, Beauty from Sarabande Books and Time Is the Thing a Body Moves Through, forthcoming from Coffee House Press in 2019. A Nonfiction Editor at DIAGRAM and Contributing Editor at EssayDaily, they live in Chicago.

About Kenyatta Rogers:

Kenyatta Rogers is a Cave Canem Fellow and has been twice awarded scholarships from the Breadloaf Writers' Conference. He has also been nominated twice for both Pushcart and Best of the Net prizes, his work has been previously published in or is forthcoming from Jubilat, Vinyl, Bat City Review, The Volta and PANK, among others. He is an associate editor of RHINO Poetry and currently serves on the creative writing faculty at the Chicago High School for the Arts.
